Lorraine M. Capuano, 76, of New York City and East Quogue, NY passed away on November 18, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born to Edward and Vera (Cossa) Capuano in Yonkers and grew up in Pelham, NY together with her twin brother Edward and younger brother Robert Capuano; both of whom pre-deceased her in 2020. After graduating from Pelham High School, Lorraine attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY earning a B.A. Degree. She continued her education achieving a M.A. from Manhattan College and a PhD from Fordham University.
She had a long and rewarding career as a human resource executive, working for 20 years with multinational corporations including Texaco, RJR Nabisco, and Witco, helping them identify and develop senior level talent. She had the courage to ultimately launch her own consulting practice, The Organization Effectiveness Group, LLC, where she worked with individuals and organizations to navigate sustainable change through talent management and executive coaching.
She was passionate about giving back to her community and spent many hours volunteering through the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola and as a founding board member of the Thrive for Life organization and a volunteer spiritual mentor on the Taconic State Prison Retreat Team.
Lorraine loved theatre, the opera, her family and all things Italian. She was passionate about the food, the music and language - and she loved to travel, especially to Italy, with family and friends. During the summer, you could find Lorraine playing tennis, entertaining weekend guests or simply enjoying the breeze at her beloved summer home overlooking the Shinnecock Bay.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her intelligence and her dedication to her family and friends.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Liz Capuano (Edward) and Andrea Capuano (Robert) as well as her 4 nieces and nephews their spouses and 8 grand nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue in Manhattan on December 1st 2021, at 10:00am.
